It has one wire going to it. There is no voltage on the wire. The engine is not overheating but I would like to get the gauge working again. It is a gauge, not just a warning light.

My question is, should the gauge have 12 volts going to it all the time?

Hello,

There is only one wire going to the gauge as the wiring diagram with the temperature gauge circuit in it shows that I have included for you in the diagrams down below. If the gauge isn't working and there is no voltage in the wire, then this shows that the temperature sending unit/switch is bad and needs to be replaced. Please get back to us with how everything turns out.

Thanks,
Alex
