So, my wife's truck isn't shifting at the right RPM range, it's shifting too late. She sent it to get the transmission rebuilt and TCM replaced but after they replaced the TCM its shifting way too late. I'm trying to find the TCM to pull it out and send it to get programmed but I can't seem to find it.

Garts geek has TCM for the suburban, make sure that the numbers match, prices vary. The one I looked at was new and runs over $100.00. You can also look up a place called pull a part. Most of their parts are used. You might find one there.

Thanks man but I don’t need the new TCM I just need to know where it’s located so I can pull it out and send it to get programmed because the one that’s in it right now is already new.

In most cars, it is often found at the rear of the transmission case, under the engine control module, or under or near the steering wheel. I found some Steps for you to read or try. Resetting Transmission Control Module

Here are the steps on how to reset transmission control module Chevrolet:

Step 1. Turning Key Position
Before resetting the transmission control module, it is necessary to check the key position. To begin with, you must change the key position to 2. Check that the dashboard lights are on.

However, it is not necessary to step on the accelerator and start the car in the first step. Be careful when setting the KEY’ position to the correct number.
Keep an attentive ear, there will be two clicks. At the same time, the dashboard lights will illuminate. You should not start the engine yet.
Step 2. Press the gas pedal
Once you have finished with the previous step, now you just have to step on the accelerator pedal. Make sure you press it all the way down.
Depress the accelerator pedal all the way down to activate the kick-down switch. Keep depressing the pedal and continue to the next step.
Step 3. Keep Waiting. Now, if you have come here to reset your Chevy’s transmission control module, you need to be patient.

All you need to do during this time period is to stay for about 15 seconds depressing the pedal, which will be enough for the accelerator pedal to start working for the full reset procedure.

Step 4. Turning the Key Off
After putting your foot on the accelerator pedal for about 10-12 seconds, you need to go ahead and return to the key. However, do not let go of the pedal.

Note that you have to do all this “resetting” by keeping your foot on the pedal. Remember before you had the keys turned to 2? Yes, now you have to go through it and return it to its previous position.

All you have to do is turn them off. With your hands, turn the key to zero. After turning the key to its previous position, you must keep the key there.

Step 5. Releasing Gas Pedal
Once you have turned the key to the home position, you can release the accelerator pedal. Make sure you have kept your foot on the pedal throughout the previous step.
And only release the accelerator pedal when you have finished turning the key to the zero position.

Step 6. Wait Again
We realize that you do not want to wait. However, the restart process takes a little time. You must give your Chevy a rest after taking your foot off the accelerator.
Your engine should be off for approximately 5 minutes. Check that the ignition key is in the off position. Do not change the key. Take your time!

Step 7. Ready
You are practically done with the procedure. You have actually done the Engine Control Unit (ECU) process along with the Transmission Control Unit (TCM) process.

All you need to do now is drive! When done with the TCU as well as ECU programming, you should take your car for a drive. The drive should take about 20 minutes. The TCU process, along with the ECU, will certainly work cooperatively.

They will try to learn your driving technique. They will certainly check your driving pattern and take care of that as well.

I hope that helps you,

Mike
