My van went crazy one night. The wipers came on without being turned on, the transmission won't shift, all the gauges on the dash are out, left blinker works not the right, no taillights or brake lights.

Before we go looking for problems that might not exist, this can all be caused by broken solder connections on the connector terminals on the back of the instrument cluster. The best solution is not to replace the cluster as a used one is likely to develop the same problem. Instead, look for a local tv repair shop. The people there are very familiar with repairing broken solder connections. It's been a long time since I did this repair, but as I recall, the rear circuit board has to be unbolted, then flipped over, then you can see the ends of the terminals that need to be soldered.
