taking a cab off of a 6 cylinde3r truck and putting it on an 8 cylinder chassis will the ecm have to be reprogramed to work with the components in the cab and transmission

Usually, no, the ECM itself does not need to be reprogrammed just because you swapped the cab onto a 2000 Dodge Dakota V8 chassis. Let us know if you need anything else. Ken
