2004 Suzuki XL7 Dust in rear door latch

I live 5 miles down a very dusty dirt road and I can't keep the door latch working. The inside of the backdoor get's full of dust and stops working in a matter of 2 weeks. What can be done to stop the dust from coming in the gap above the handle.
Any ideas?
