Removal
Raise and support vehicle. Remove front wheel(s). On 2WD models, remove hub center cover. On 4WD models, remove axle shaft drive flange. See Fig. 2. On all models, remove caliper from steering knuckle, and wire aside. See Fig. 3. Remove wheel speed sensor and clamp. See Fig. 15.
Remove brake disc. If disc cannot be removed by hand, install two 8-mm bolts into threaded holes of disc. Alternately tighten bolts to remove rotor from hub. Remove wheel bearing lock plate by removing 4 attaching screws. See Fig. 16. Remove lock nut using Socket (09951-16050). Remove lock washer.
On all models, remove wheel hub, bearing and seals as an assembly. If wheel hub cannot be removed by hand, use slide hammer and Hub Remover Adapter (09943-35511). Remove hub seal and snap ring from hub. Using Hub Bearing Installer/Remover (09944-68210), press bearing assembly from hub.
