ARTICLE BEGINNING
CONDITION
Signs of oil leakage from any component which contains oil.
CAUSE
It is possible for some oil and /or assembly lube to pass through the seal and leave residue around and below the seal. THIS IS NORMAL AND IS NOT CONSIDERED A LEAK!
CORRECTION
This residue does not indicate that a seal or gasket requires replacement!
An oil leak will leave oil on the ground. If oil residue is found around any weep hole, seal or mating surface, do not replace the seal, gasket, or re-seal, this is not considered a leak. (See below)
If the oil residue is found and oil is visibly leaking from the weep hole, seal or mating surface enough to drip on to the ground, replace the seal, gasket, or sealant by following the service manual procedure.
