I purchased an "performance" air filter that fell apart and crumbled, which I assume got sucked into the air intake, plus what ever debris got sucked in for how long it was damaged for (I hadn't checked it for 15-20k miles). What can I do now to clean out the debris and pollutants that are in my engine?

no particles should have got into the engine .. the throttle body has a metal meshing to protect the intake !
