I have a 1992 Suzuki Sidekick, 1.6 L, stick. After driving approximately 15 miles, the 'check engine' light comes on and the engine power goes to about 1/2 and I can't achieve over 2500 rpms or 35 mph. It happens suddenly as if a switch was thrown. If the motor is allowed to cool completely and the battery is diconnected to drop the code, the same thing will happen after 15 miles.
I'm about 200 miles from anyone that has a scanner to find out what the problem is. Consequently, I have rplaced the fuel filter, plugs and wires, cap and rotor, the coil and the module on top of the coil, with no change. If I jumper the diagnostic connector, it flashes code 12, normal engine.
Any ideas short of running it into the nearest river?
Thanks
Jack
