Trans solenoid problem--service engine soon

Can I drive a couple hundred miles still if the solenoid on the transmission has indicated a 'service engine soon' message.

Service garage diagnosed this solenoid problem

Suzuki Sidekick, 1.6, 1997, approx. 46,000 miles.

If it's a shift solinoid, I would'nt...unless you want to increase the payments to the tranny shop...
