i1996 geo tracker

I recently purchased a 1996 geo tracker with about 95000 miles on it, my problem is that my service engine light does not come on, and it will not pass inspection until I get it fixed, any suggestions?

First check is the bulb, then the socket, wires, connections and on back to the ECU.
