replaced ground wire on alternator and it blew the 60 am fuse...any ideas?

double check you are grounding the correct wire !

what ground there is only a case ground.
or are you plugging in the rear small connector.
id say , the alternator is shorted inside.
id remove it take it to any parts store to be tested.
then buy a fuse after test passes.
