1986 Other Suzuki Models fuel pump

1986 Other Suzuki Models Manual 30,000 miles

there was a fuel pump mod installed be a previous owner, it is a carbureted engine with and electric fuel pump. If i wire the pump to a 12v source directly with a toggle switch controlling the operation, would it be okay to bypass the existing relay? what problems could this cause?

you need to remeber to turn it off everytime you leave the vehicle ?
