2005 Suzuki Forenza transmission light on

The transmission light has come on when this happened once before the transmission went out and the car dealeship where we got it put a external cooler on and installed a rebuild kit in it. What would make the light come on again for it has only been about 5 months ago this was done

have the vehicle plugged into a diagnsotic computer to check for transmission related fault codes
