2001 Suzuki Esteem is the auto clutch working as per design

I recently bought a 2001 suzuki esteem automatic.

I have a feeling that my esteem automatic never goes into 4th or 5th gear. The sound of the car is quite high when I reach 50 or 60 KMPH as though I am going in 3rd gear. Is that possible. Is that because the clutch plate is wearing off.

Could be anything inside the tranny -such as band/clutches, shifting solenoids/servo-Get it pressure tested by a tranny shop
