2000 Suzuki Esteem battery trouble

Yesterday i awoke to a dead battery...i tired to start it and it alomost turned over a few times...took out the old put in a new one and now it doesn't even want to try to turn over...what did i do wrong?....the cables are on thiere right....the brace everything is right back in place...but nothing happens...HELP!!!!

double check everything .. ALL wires back on correctly ..something must be missing somewhere ... or the new battery you have is dead as well .. use a volt meter to see if you have 12.5 volt's in new battery ??
