Surging

When I step on the break it stalls. Also, the car surges when it idles.

Sounds like a vacuum leak at the brake booster, disconnect the vacuum supply to the booster and block it off, apply brakes with engine running, if engine dos not falter this will be the problem, do not drive car with booster disconnected as the brakes will be very heavy and will not stop the car easily.
