Car will slightly surge on occasions at lights, like it not getting fuel to engine. If a little throttle is given to allow fuel it sometimes recovers. Other times engine goes out and restart via key ignition. Is requited. The rest of the journey may continue without problems or at times it re occurs again.

Hello,

Although we do not have a listing for a Ford Laser in either of our two reference guides, I think that this could be a problem with your vehicle's Idle Air Control valve (IAC). This valve is what let's the air bypass around the closed throttle plate at idle to keep your vehicle running. Here are a couple of links below for you to go to:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-replace-an-idle-speed-control-motor-iac
https://www.2carpros.com/articles/engine-vibration-at-idle

Please go through these guides and get back to us with what you are able to figure out.

Thanks,
Alex

An easy thing to check is the vacuum lines also. Listen for a hiss sound under the hood and look for any lines that may be collapsed or have a hole in them. The Focus 2.0 had issues with the PCV hose as well as the PCV valve itself hanging open and causing a hunting idle or a stall at stoplights etc. Also verify that the intake hose are secured from the air filter housing to the throttle body correctly.
