The large black gasket that surrounds my sunroof seems to be sun-damaged, to the point where one corner is curling up. Is that something a shade-tree mechanic can replace, and if so where would I go for information regarding how to do it?

Hi,

I'm not even sure that is something that can be replaced separately. Are you getting a leak? Have you tried adjusting the window?

Here are directions for adjustment. Let me know if you think this can help.

2009 Honda Civic L4-1.8L
Adjustments
Vehicle Body and Frame Roof and Associated Components Sunroof / Moonroof Adjustments
ADJUSTMENTS
Moonroof Glass Position Adjustment

The roof panel (A) should be even with the glass weatherstrip (B), to within 0+1/-1 mm (0+0.04/-0.04 in.) All the way around, and the distance from glass edge to the roof panel edge should be 13.5+1/-1 mm (0.55+0.04/-0.04 in.). If not, make the following adjustment:

1. Remove the bracket cover.

2. Adjust the glass (A).
-1 Slightly loosen the screws using a TORX T25 bit.
-2 Move the glass up or down and forward or rearward.
-3 Tighten all screws securely.

3. If necessary, repeat on the opposite side.

There is also a drain tube that can cause leaks. How badly damaged is the seal?

Let me know.
