More then likely this is the motor but the only way to know for sure that something is not binding is access the entire system and that means you need to remove the head liner. That means the entire padding on the roof needs to come down and out of the way.
I attached the info on how to replace the motor which will give a good idea on what we need to do.

Before you tackle this, I would suggest contacting the dealer and finding out if there is a known issue with these that could be corrected with a software update.
Clearly the motor works as it moves the shade but it is typical that these begin to fail by not opening or closing it as far. However, these are controlled by modules so there could be a software update that corrects it. I am not seeing a TSB but it is worth asking.
