Car was running fine. I got out of work and as soon as I stepped on the gas to go it almost stalled. Under load it has no power. In park I can rev the engine up.

Hi, can you check for trouble codes and let me know what they are and we can go from there?

Hello,

This is common when the car goes into limp mode. here is a guide to help you service the throttle bore which is a normal service item:

Did the car feel like the brakes were on when you drove it? IE; did it feel like it was running fine and smooth like you had one foot on the brake and one on the gas?

No. The rpm would drop almost to a stall. At one point I was holding the brake and trying to rev up engine. Extremely sluggish.

Okay, there aren't many things that can cause this without throwing codes, so I will give you a list to do and check to see if we can find whats is wrong.

The first is low fuel pressure. I would start with a new fuel filter and then test the fuel pump. You can get free tool rental from most parts stores. You will need a fuel pressure tester and follow the instructions in the link below.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-fuel-system-pressure-and-regulator

If the fuel pressure is low it is either a plugged fuel filter (why I said to start with that) a bad fuel regulator or a bad fuel pump. I would change them in that order based on cost and labor.

I would also suggest a full tune up. Plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor. Any of those can go bad and not give codes.

Let me know what you find out.
