service engine soon after smelling gasoline. gas gauge seems normal.

9 times out of 10 it will be one the fuel injectors. I would use a flashlight to inspect each fuel injector and if you find one leaking replace it with the new unit. No, the fuel leak problem means there is a problem with the body of the fuel injector which will not show up in a scan. It must be a visual inspection under the hood.

I have a mobile mechanic coming by to check it out later. He suggested to not drive it in very hot weather for fire danger.
