When turbo usually kicks in, the engine makes a very audible whooshing sound and wont rev up any higher and actually loses power. The boost gauge drops when this happens. It doesn't do this when the car is stationary. The car is completly stock and it's my sons car, trying to help him out! Thanks in advance, any help much appreciated.

The compressor bypass or "blow off valve" may be opening prematurely, releasing boost pressure.

I would also check hose connections from compressor outlet to intake for any leaks/loose clamps.
