I have a 2008 Subaru Outback with 7,000 miles. Runs great. Today, the engine just stopped running as I was driving along at 25 mph. At first I thought maybe out of gas, but have added three gallons to the car and still does not start. Turns over strongly with the starter motor, but makes no indication that it is getting ignition. It just grinds over without any sputtering or coughs. Curiously, when we addd the gas, the fuel gauge did not move until we had been fiddling with the car for several minutes, turning it on and off, checking fuel pump fuses, etc. Then, all of a sudden, I turn it on and the gauge jumps up from nearly empty to nearly 1/4 full, where it ought to be given the gas we have just added. Also, it is about 110 degrees today, if that matters.
