2008 Subaru Outback 4 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic

Engine will not start or VERY difficult to start when outside temperature is very cold. Once it starts it runs fine and will start after warm-up.

There are a number of things that this could be, so we need to start with the basics. First, we need to check the fuel pressure and find out if it is low when the engine is cold.

If the fuel pressure is okay, then we need to try what is called a clear flood start and see if the engine starts with less fuel. There is a chance that we have injectors sticking open or even a programming issue causing the PCM to dump too much fuel when the engine is cold.

You do a clear flood by holding the accelerator to the floor when you start the engine. If it starts, then we have a fuel issue.

However, the other side of this is when you are starting the engine and it is not starting try using starter fluid in the intake.

I attached the info below for the fuel pressure test from the manual. Let's run through this and let me know what you find. Thanks
