Air Conditioning problem
2004 Subaru Outback 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic
----------------------------------------------------------------
It seems every time I go out of town and leave my Subaru parked, when I get back the air conditioner stops working. My mechanic has fixed it twice and each time it was a different part. I went away for labor day and it happened again. Has it happened to anybody else? Is my mechanic doing the right thing and can I prevent it from happening?

Hi uncfan,

Thank you for the donation.

We need to know what were the parts replaced/repaired and the actual problem of the AC not working. Blower motor working but not cool, etc.

If it is due to lack of freon, then there is a leak and either the mechanic has not addressed the correct areas for repairs or the system is bad and after one area is repaired, another gives way.

They repaired a hose and another part that were leaking. Why would this happen after sitting (only for 4 days)?

Hi uncfan,

Parts age over time and when left idle, it tends to leak faster than when operating.

During operations, high pressure can act as a seal so the leak is retarded.
