My 2002 Subaru has run great and very little repair problems. Maintenance done regularly. Recently the check engine light showed the cat. conv. is failing - light keeps coming on. Finally had it repaired at an automotive shop b/c i do not like the Subaru dealership in my town. They put a universal cat conv. on which failed within one week. They reinstalled another one.

Has anyone had any problems with after-market cat convs? I just wish now I had paid the $1300 to have subaru (in another town) put one on.

Hi there,

Do you know the cause of the failure? if it was a integral defect there should be a warranty on it and it should be replaced free of cost, i would check this out.
