I just found a 2001 Subaru Outback for sale in my area.
The gentleman I spoke to is saying that he put a 2003 2.5 in the car since the original engine lost oil and was junked.
I called my local Subaru dealer to confirm that he, in fact, was able to put the 2003 engine in the car.
They say it is not possible, at all.
Can you confirm either perspective?
