Engine Cooling problem
1996 Subaru Outback 4 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 165K miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
My 2.5lt subaru has been overheating every once in awhile lately. This just started happening about a month ago right after an oil change- and filling of all fluids. It happens maybe once every two weeks. when this happens the coolant boils over and I have to fill it back up again. Sometimes it only happens at low rpms and I can rev the engine up and it the temp will drop but keeps overheating until I add more coolant.

Last week I was low on gas but my light was not on yet and when I would start my car it would idle really low and die. I would start it again and give it a little gas and it was fine. This happened one day and the next morning it wouldn't start at all. Checked the coil and igniter...endeded up being fouled plugs. replaced them and now it is running again but when I start it she kind of idles low and a thick white exhaust comes out for a few mins. Doesn't matter if she is warm or not. Every time I turn the car off for more than a few mins and start it again this exhaust comes out and then goes away after running for awhile.

I am aware that I have a leaky head on my passenger side, could this problem be getting worse?

Do you think the spark plug thing is related to the overheating?
