subaru AC

I have a 91 subaru loyale 60,000mi.
when I turn on the AC the compressor runs for a few seconds then stops, It starts to blow cold when running. If I hit "off,on" it starts again then stops after a few seconds any ideas?

needs to be charged. can get a recharging kit and do it your self most places. the compressor does not run all the time. with it starting and stopping it is picking up the freon. if you pick up the kit yourself read the instructions carefully
