Strange smell from the engine

We have a 2002 Subaru Impreza 2.5L wagon with 108,000 miles. We recently (last six months) had the fuel pump and O2 filter replaced, but haven't had it in for a full once-over for probably 60K miles. A couple days ago we started noticing a sweet, yet burny smell (similar to overheating brakes or a clutch, but more subtle and reminiscent of antifreeze) coming from the engine while it's running. The dummy light isn't on (it turned on for a couple days after filling with gas once, but has since turned back off before the smell started), and the temperature, mileage, engine sounds and driving all seems normal.

Is this smell something that we should worry about?

I don't think oil dripping on to theexaust pipe wouls make a smell of anti freeze. Start the car and let it idle, check for smells comming from around the air conditioning compressure.
