Could someone tell me how difficult is it to change the gas tank on a 95 subaru legacy? I was told that it wasn't as simple as other cars.

No its not a simple job, in 95 the car could be 2wd or Awd either way the rear suspension and or rear diff has to come out. Subaru has an axcess hole to change out the sending unit and the fuel pump. Curious as to why the tank needs to come out?

The gas tank is leaking and we were going to replace it. Do you have any other suggestions?

Man that sucks, If its leaking any repair in the car will probally be short lived.I dont know that this is really a job you should tackle in your drive way. The vehicle needs to raised up high enough to remove the rear suspension and rear diff(if its AWD). All of the electrical and lines to and from the pump and sending units are accessd from inside the car after you remove the access panels. The fuel fill and return hose can kind of be a pain to remove as well. The drive lin, heat shields and in some cases the exhaust may have to come out as well. Hope that helps

We have access to a hydralic lift. Maybe once we get it up, we can repair instead of replace. Thanks for your help.
