Bad Bearings? 98 Forester

if it gets loader when your turning one way and quieter turning the oppisite way the its most likely a wheel bearing... basically if you turn the the left and it gets louder then its the right bearing that is bad or viceversa....

Had same problem. Take it to dealer and Subaru will install a "new and improved" bearing. It's a common problem but you have to pay.

Have the car put up on a garage lift where the four wheels are off the ground. have someone in the vehicle with the engine running. put the car in drive. go around to each spring in front from under the car. a vibraton can be fealt when you put your fingers on the spring when the front tires are turning. if a good vibration is felt good chances that the bearing could be bad. but bearings usually make a noise when turning.
