I have a 2.5 liter turbo legacy spec b that I purchased used. The salesperson said unleaded plus (890 octane) is ok to use. However, the service department said to use only 91 octane because of the turbo. I do not push the car, am a conservative driver. What will 89 octane do to the engine? I ask because i can get 89 octane at the same price as unleaded at Kwik Trip gas stations.

The engine management system has the ability to control the timing, so lower octane fuel will just cause the PCM to retard the timing a little to compensate, hardly noticeable performance loss unless being timed at the track
