The check engine light came on today, while driving at normal in-town speeds, and shortly after that, the cruise control stopped working. I checked the manual, and it sounds as if the 'check engine light', which is constant, does not flash, could indicate a problem with the emissions controls, but apparently can occur if the gas cap isn't on tight. I checked the cap; seemed okay to me.
The cruise can apparently be inactivated if the control is bumped while starting the car, but should reset if the car is shut off, and re-started. Tried that, it didn't work.
It seems logical that the two failures may be somehow connected; anyone have an idea how? My dealeris 150 miles away, so I'm hoping for an option. thanks.
