2001 Subaru Legacy backup lights

Electrical problem
2001 Subaru Legacy 4 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic

The backup lights quit working. Checked fuses, o.k. Checked bulbs, o.k. Is there a switch connected to the selector when put in reverse? Or is there another explanation? Thanks

The back-up switch is located on the side of the transaxle.
