2000 Subaru Legacy All Wheel Drive Automatic

When I turn my wheels right or left, I sometimes hear a squealling sound. When I sometimes apply my brakes, the squealling will stop. What could this possibly be?

It sounds like the power steering belt. Have you checked it for tension?
