Would it be to hard to replace the pump myself ?

Even if you don't have automotive experience this one's a snap. I recommend you buy a Chilton or Haynes repair manual (used is cheap online for about $20). These books are good for basic repairs like water pumps, power steering pumps, alternators, etc.
