Just replaced plugs, fuel filter, air filter, oil filter, changed oil, and ran injector cleaner recently. Car was running like new.

Tonight, the CEL came on. I didn't think anything of it, as I assumed it was likely emissions related, and probably not of immediate concern. Stopped to make a turn, clutch in, car stalls. Starts right back up, but as I climbed a mild grade a couple hundred yards from home, I lost power rapidly. Was doing about 35mph in 3rd when it started, and ended up barely making it up going about 8mph in 1st at around 3000 RPMs. Engine sounded rough, felt rough, etc. Stalled again as soon as I stopped and pushed the clutch in.

Temp was fine, oil level was fine, nothing else seemed out of the ordinary.

Any ideas?

Two ideas. first look for anything that may have come disconnected, rechick the ignition wires to be sure they are still seated, any thing that may have been unplugged etc.

Second, need to get the codes from the computer pulled, autozone may do this, but recommend picking up a code reader such as the actron II for example. Post the codes.

Ran the car with no trouble today. I'll try to grab the code Monday or Tuesday, and will post it ASAP.

Kind of thinking O2 sensor, or something related? It was running as though the mixture was incorrect. Would that make sense?

Probably is mixture related, the o2 is a bit of a leap but certainly possible. There are so many different possiblilities to the mix, it is just speculated until the code is pulled. the CEL amy have nothing to do with the drivability.

Got the code read at a local service station for free.

P1507: Idle Control System Malfunction (fail-safe)

He cleared it, and said to see if it came back. If not, no problem. If it does, he said to bring it back in and he'd check it out.

Any additional thoughts?

This code may be a bit of a challenge if it returns. The information on troubleshooting this appears to be incorrect as provided by the Manufacturer. This can be a tail chaser.

There is one potential cause of the involving a stripped gear in the transmission. Not to say that is yours.

I think as a maintenance procedure, I might clean the IAC. Hopefully the code doesn't return.
