1997 Subaru Legacy muffler system

why did one exhaust pipe cost 70.00 (AP38484) and the other (AP58376) cost 285.00? I don't trust this chain muffler company. The guy told me the more expensive pipe has an extra piece on it

hi, usually the more expensive one may have a catalytic converter, already on it. or it may have what is called a "resonator" on it which is somewhat like a muffler. but dont be afraid to ask them anything you wish, you are buying they're product and keeping them employed, always remember that. any other questions please let me know
