Transmission problem
1997 Subaru Legacy 4 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic

Hi Guys,

I just swapped out a transmission on my Legacy GT with one from a junkyard. Everything went well and lined up perfectly. I flushed the trans and got things reconnected, but now it's not functioning. I believe I could have gotten a lemon, but before I send it back - just wondered if I missed something, or if I may not have adjusted or reset something I needed to. Right now when i put it in drive or reverse, the engine has to rev to 3000 rpms just to get it to barely move. It's slipping a great deal. Do you think the tranny's bad or is there perhaps another reason(s) this is happening? Thanks for your help!

Steve,
Based on your description, I would say it's bad. I strongly recommend getting a direct fit transmission for your vehicle. With sensors, solenoids... things change a great deal within a year which can cause problems for you.
