1996 subaru it over heats and the heater goes hot than cold heat blows from the heater. The water is not circulating in the radiater when I remove the cap and look in the radiater. Any ideas on what is wrong and causing it to over heat. I did have a stereo system installed in my car.

I would start with replacing the thermostat. It sounds like it isn't opening properly. Also, make sure the cooland it full and let me know if this helps.

If the coolant is not circulating its a good indication that the water pump has failed.
