1996 Subaru Legacy burnt tranny fluid

tranny fluid smells burnt and is dark car has problems getting speed or power especially on hills. i think my tranny may be shot but im not sure

first thing i would do is replace the filter and flush the system. and then fill with new tranny fluid. could just be low on the fluid level, or the filter could be plugged, and burned tranny fluid doesnt help the vehicle function properly. also with that add some lucas tranny fix into the oil too and see hwo it works.
