Engine Cooling problem
1995 Subaru Legacy 4 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic

Hi,

I have 1995 Subaru Legacy. There is a persistent coolant leak, apparently from the water pump. I have removed, cleaned, and inspected and replaced the water pump three times, each time with a new gasket, but I cannot cure the leak. Any ideas?

Stilll leaks, even with anew pump? May need to have this one pressure tested so that you can see right where it is coming from. You may have a leak above it or near the pump that is spraying or leeching down to the pump making it look like the leak.Did you get the gasket surfaces real clean? new gasket?

Check the coolant by pass hose that goes from the top of the engine, behind the timing cover, and down to or near the water pump.
