My 95 Subaru needs a new timing belt; quoted 700-750 P&L and if it needs a new water pump that would be an additional 125-150. Are these reasonable amounts?

It is really hard to say. Different demographic has different prices. Timing belt replacement in your car will take about 4 hours labor. Figure out your area labor rate (It is $75/hr average where I live). It will be cheaper if you purchase the parts yourself (The parts come up to $110 where I live). You will need the timing belt and timing belt tensioner. It is recommended that you replace the water pump at the same time.
