1995 Subaru Legacy Incorrect Fuel gauge readings

1995 SUBARU LEGACY
88,500 MILES • 4 CYL • AWD • AUTOMATIC

I have 2 95' legacy sedans' both have fuel guages that are erratic or show 3/4 empty when they are really 1/2 to 3/4 full. What can I check to correct this?

Check the fuel sending unit in the fuel tank or the gauge is out of calibration/connections to it.
