1994 Subaru Legacy defrost dashboard button

The buttons that I press to control the heat/ ventalation in my car are not engaging when pressed. As a result, to get my windshield to defrost I have to keep my finger on the button. Any ideas are appreciated.

You may want to consider replacing the climate control unit as the easiest fix.
