1993 Subaru Legacy All Wheel Drive Automatic 205000 miles

i had an oil change 5 months ago - checking the oil now it's still full and still clear, but the car is making the ticking noise that goes with low oil - what causes this?

Ticking noise associated with low oil? Never heard of that.

Most probably the noise you are refering to are caused by the valves lifters.
