I bought a used Legacy that had a little bit of brake shimmy. I found out pretty soon that the wheel also wobbled back and forth a little while driving. I performed a brake job, pretty sure I did it correctly. I pumped the brakes before going anywhere, and made 10 stops ranging from 25 mph advancing all the way up to 45 mph. The brakes were still shimmying. I figured, screw it, the car stops and drives. A year later, (present) the brake shimmy has gotten really bad, so I took off the wheel to check things out, and noticed my passenger side halfshaft has a little play, and my tie rod end joint has the protector boot completely ripped to shreds. The steering wheel still shimmys a little while driving, but hasn't really gotten any worse. Wanted to get an opinion before I touched anything.
