Can a gearbox for this car be striped and a single gear replaced or is it a matter of getting a second hand gearbox my car bounced out of first gear the rest of them worked at the time but once it cooled there is nothing now.

Yes the transmission can be overhauled if there is an internal issue at hand. Sometimes the cost of this can exceed sourcing a used gearbox, but you weigh the options of a new rebuild transmission or a used unit.

Explain more about your issue maybe I can help you out further. You can't get it into gear now?
